Katsuya
by Starck. Fish
by the ocean.
Location - LA
Live.
Fabulousness, a
given.
If you know
sushi, then you
know Katsuya.
With locations
in Brentwood,
Hollywood and at
the Americana in
Glendale the
name is
synonymous with
good, albeit
pricey, sushi in
LA. The forth
location is in
Downtown LA,
part of the
megaplex to all
things
entertainment
that is LA Live.
A quick bite
before a game or
a show is just a
rectangular
shaped sushi bar
away.
Serving the
freshest that
the waters have
to offer,
signature dishes
include Spicy
Albacore with
Crispy Onions,
Kobe Tobanyaki,
Miso-marinated
Black Cod and
anything sushi,
from hand roll,
to cut roll, to
sashimi and any
of their very
special
specialty
selections.
Their cocktails
are pretty darn
delicious too,
the Honey Basil
Sling - very
easy to knock
that one back.
The simplest way
to sample the
sushi they are
known for is to
get the aptly
named sampler
platter, a
perfect
assortment of
Chef Katsuya’s
pick of the day.
The $65 tasting
menu is always a
sure bet with
the best of the
best signature
dishes, both hot
and cold, and as
it is all picked
for you the only
work you have to
do is eat what
is put in front
of you. How bad
could that be?
Not bad at all!
Especially in
this joint, it
is designed by
Philippe Starck
after all so the
décor, the
patrons, the
food – it is all
beautiful here -
lots of colors,
very fresh and
oh so fun to
look at. This
place is Asian
Fusion at its
best with some
saucy sides of
LA, all in a
good way.
Really, it is
almost too many
things. It’s
swanky. It’s
spectacular.
Katsuya is four
star service,
four star food,
and a four star
price. And for
all those stars
you will spend a
good dime for
your good and
tasty time.
